Escape to an arid land where you can commune with dinosaurs, camels, saber-toothed cats and a 350-foot (107 km) Oriental serpent as it crosses the road!
Borrego Springs is home to over 130 life-sized, metal sculptures of creatures ranging from the prehistoric to the fantastical—all the commissioned work of Ricardo Breceda, a self-taught artist based in Southern California.
Begin your self-guided driving tour at the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park Visitors Center (open daily, 9am-5pm (Oct-May); Sat-Sun only, 9am-5pm (June-Sept)) where you can pick up a free map of the sculptures’ locations.
The tour is mostly on paved roads and approximately 22 miles (35 km) roundtrip.
