Embark on a 5.4 mile | 8.7 km (roundtrip), moderate hike in the Santa Monica Mountains via the Ray Miller Trail, which is on the north end of the newly completed Backbone Trail (67 mi | 108 km long), one of the longest continuous trails in SoCal.
During your hike, you will be treated to lovely panoramas of rugged canyons and chaparral to the east and endless ocean waves to the west.
The road to the Ray Miller Trailhead parking lot is just north of Broome Beach (look for a sign reading La Jolla Canyon).
Day use parking at trailhead: 8am-sunset
Tent /RV camping $35 on the beach at Thornhill Broome (Point Mugu) Beach & Campground; $10 in Sycamore Canyon Campground nearby. Campsites reservable 7 months in advance.
Via Camping Adventures Rentals, you can rent an RV and have it delivered to the campground prior to your arrival ($187-$262+; 2-night minimum).
