The ornate Oriental style facade of Grauman's Chinese TheatreThis opulent theatre was built in 1927 under the tutelage of Sid Grauman, a movie theatre mogul and marketing genius who was the mastermind behind two Hollywood traditions:

The red carpet movie premiere; and the practice of memorializing a star’s handprints and footprints in the theatre’s forecourt.

Nowadays, you can high-five the handprints of your favorite movie stars in the forecourt.

And with luck and planning, you can even sees the stars of today during movie premieres and handprint ceremonies that are held here a few times every month.

You can also watch the latest blockbuster movie in the theatre’s main auditorium, which is wondrously ornate and boasts a new IMAX screen over which the theatre’s original red and gold silk curtain still hangs.
