Hang Gliding at Fort Funston

On a perfectly clear day, you can get a bird’s eye view of the Golden Gate, its iconic bridge and the Bay Area coastline by going tandem hang gliding at Fort Funston, a nature preserve 8 miles (14 km) south of the bridge, with 200 foot (61 m) high bluffs and some of the best winds for hang gliding in the country.

The best time to glide here is in the fall, especially during the month of October, when you are most likely to be gifted with fog-free skies over the bridge.
