      An interesting looking tree (Joshua tree) with rocky hills in the background, in a desert landscapeClimb atop bulbous rocks, hike through slot canyons and marvel at eponymous Joshua trees—large, spiky yucca plants native only to the American Southwest—whose limbs often seem to be in the midst of an interpretive dance.

      Admission $25 per vehicle (good for 7 days)

      Hiking trails — popular ones include Fortynine Palms Oasis, Skull Rock and Cap Rock.

      Tent/RVCamping $15-20; 2 campgrounds are reservable online for stays in Oct-May only; 7 other camps are first-come, first serve
