Tamalpais looking down at the San Francisco Bay and headlands belowOn a clear day, you can bask in awesome, sky-high views of the hills, valleys, cliffs, cities, hamlets and shores of the San Francisco Bay whilst hiking the Verna Dunshee and Plank Walk Trails atop Mount Tamalpais, which rises upwards of 2,576 ft (785 m) above the sea.

Verna Dunshee is a 0.7 miles (1.1 km) loop trail that is easy, flat and wheelchair accessible. Plank Walk is a 0.6 miles (1 km) trail, roundtrip, that is moderate, a bit steep and rocky.

Fun fact: Tamalpais is derived from Tamalpiis, a local, Miwok Indian tribal word meaning our country’s (Tamal) mountain (piis).

      Day use parking $8 (7am-sunset)
