      Part of the set from How the Grinch Stole Christmas on the Universal Studio TourUniversal Studios is where the idea of a studio tour was born—in 1915, during the Silent Movie era, when tours cost only 25 cents ($6 today).

      The tour died off during the advent of Talkies, but was resurrected in 1965 to popular demand. Over time more stops, stunts and features were added, spawning the creation of the Universal Studios Hollywood theme park.
